Description A coloured, cement-based material specifically formulated to be plastered to excessive thicknesses but does not slide or shrink and dries rock-hard. Slow setting gives plenty of time to work and manipulate the material in-situ.
Purpose To provide a cost-effective, coloured, textured shaping system for the artistic creation of rock finishes for use on buildings and in landscape designs.
Types One type only, but used in conjunction with different colours of Coloured Release Agent or Colorcem in contrasting colours to highlight and create natural looking rock-work.
Applications Decoration of buildings, stone plinths, flagstones, rock features, etc..
Colours Available in a range of earthy colours.
Advantages Abrasive resistance and coloured throughout. No risk of colour being rubbed off or abraded. No need to repaint. UV and alkali proof.
Specimen finish A trial area should be done on-site for the architect's approval.
Weather Do not apply when rain or freezing conditions are expected within 8 hours of application. Cover during hot, dry weather to avoid premature drying which reduces the time available to work and shape the material.
Site work Storage Unopened bags can be stored on slats in a dry shed for 6 months.
Masking Mask all areas where there is a risk of splashing and staining and where straight edges are required.

Surface preparation Surfaces should not have had previous treatments and should be firm and free from oil, dirt, dust, etc..
Mixing Mix with clean water only to a stiff paste with little or no slump. When application is to be thicker than 10mm, the material can be pre-mixed with clean river sand to add bulk and texture. The maximum would be 1 volume DecoCrete to 1 volume river sand.
Application Area to be marked and masked as required. Apply mixed DecoCrete firmly with a steel trowel as a first coat. Apply further thicknesses where required. Cut back and shape to rock formation using a steel trowel or spatula. Dab with a firm paintbrush to texture. Dust various colours of DecoCrete or Colorcem in the required colours onto still damp surface and brush in or dab to obtain the desired effect. Latex texture mats may be used in conjunction with Coloured Release Agent to imprint the surface.
Curing Cure by wetting with clean water 3 times on the day following the day of application to ensure hardness and durability. If Coloured Release Agent is used, the surface must be washed down after 72 hours curing time and subsequently cured by wetting with clean water.
Sealing Surface to be sealed with 1 or 2 coats of Cemcrete Colour Hardener Sealer in accordance with its data sheet.
Coverage 40kg of DecoCrete mixed with 40kg river sand will cover approximately 1m2 if applied 20mm thick.
Packaging Available in 40kg bags.
