Description A blend of Base Coat and Satincrete Colour that creates a smooth, coloured, waterproof finish. For interior use only.
Purpose To provide a tough, coloured, waterproof, smooth skim plaster onto wood-floated plaster or previously painted surfaces primed with CemBond, consult our Technical Department.
Types One type only in 25kg drum.
Specifying "Cemcrete Satincrete of an approved colour to be applied in one coat, no thicker than 3 to 4mm, onto hard, cured wood-floated plaster."
Specimen finish A trial area should be treated on-site for the architect's approval. The sealing method chosen should also be tested for colour and finish.
Site Work Storage Satincrete Drum can be stored, unopened, for 12 months.
Suitable surfaces Wood-floated plaster, fibre-cement board and previously painted surfaces in conjunction with CemBond.
Surface preparation Surfaces should be clean, hard and dry at time of application.
New wood-floated plaster Damp down lightly with clean water before application.
Previously painted walls and fibre-cement board Prime with a dilution of CemBond (1 part CemBond to 3 parts water). Apply Satincrete when the surface becomes tacky.
Surfaces with variable suction For example where plaster, newly patched sections and previously painted areas exist on the same wall. Prime with a dilution of CemBond (1 part CemBond to 3 parts water). Apply a 2 - 3mm layer of Base Coat (mixed in accordance with its data sheet) when the surface becomes tacky. Finish the surface using a block-brush or sponge roller to create a textured finish, thus providing a good mechanical key. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours. Prime the surface using a dilution of CemBond (1 part CemBond to 3 parts water). Apply Satincrete when the surface becomes tacky.

Weather
Do not apply in freezing conditions.
Mixing
1 volume Base Coat to 1 volume Satincrete Colour powder.
Application
Using a steel trowel, apply the first layer forcing the material tightly against the surface, followed immediately by a second trowel with more material to an application not exceeding 3 to 4mm. When biscuit hard a sponge trowel may be used to smooth the surface and remove trowel marks, followed immediately by smoothing with a slightly damp steel trowel. Further textures may be achieved using one of the following methods:
- Brush finish
- Combed finish
- Sponged finish
- Steel trowel smooth (burning)
- Tile shapes ruled in when surface
- Sponge roller is biscuit-hard
Curing
Leave to air cure for at least 24 hours before moist curing with a light mist spray of water 3 times during the day. Allow to dry for at least 3 days before sealing.
Sealing
Depending on the look required, one of the following methods may be used :
- One volume raw linseed oil mixed with one volume turpentine may be applied by paintbrush or roller. Once this has been absorbed, apply a good quality floor polish (e.g. Cobra Wax) diluted to a paintable solution with benzine using a paintbrush. Once dry, the surface can be buffed using a sheepskin buffer. This sealing method will enrich the colour, but also make it darker.
- Apply one coat of Cemcrete's Siliconseal Solvent by brush, roller or spray.
- Apply a good quality floor polish (e.g. Cobra Wax), diluted with Benzine to a paintable solution, using a paintbrush. Once dry, the wax can be melted into the surface using a heat gun or blowtorch.
- Apply one or two coats of Cemcrete Concrete Sealer in accordance with its data sheet.
Coverage
12.5kg Base Coat mixed with 12.5kg of Satincrete Colour will cover approximately 5m2 depending on the thickness of application.
Packaging
Base Coat and Satincrete Colour supplied in 25kg drums.
