Q: Where can MatFlex be used?
A: MatFlex can be used to waterproof bathrooms, showers, balconies, terraces, and walls with rising damp. It is also ideal for use on parapets, cantilever slabs, plinths, and swimming pools prior to tiling, as well as inside water-retaining structures such as tanks and reservoirs. Additionally, it can be applied in new or existing buildings, silos, and on off-shutter concrete surfaces.
Q: Is MatFlex suitable for sealing leaks around sinks or on IBR roofs?
A: No, MatFlex is not suitable for use on surfaces such as IBR roofing, sinks, roof tiles or un-primed Gypsum. It is specifically designed for use on cement-based substrates such as concrete, cement plaster, and clay or cement bricks.
Q: Is MatFlex easy to apply or do I need a waterproofing professional?
A: MatFlex is easy to apply and ideal for DIY use, no professional is needed! The product is supplied ready to use, requires no primer, and is self-curing, making application simple and convenient. Just follow the basic surface preparation steps: pre-dampen the substrate with water (not soaking wet), apply the first coat at 1mm thickness, let it dry for at least 4 hours, then apply the second coat. No special tools or additives are required, just follow the instructions for best results.
Q: Can I apply a Cemcrete decorative finish over MatFlex?
A: No, Cemcrete decorative finishes are not suitable for application over MatFlex. MatFlex is a flexible waterproofing product, and its movement is not compatible with rigid cement-based finishes. Instead, MatFlex can be tiled over, painted with an Acrylic PVA paint (premium grade recommended) or left as is and sealed as the final surface finish.
Q: Is MatFlex trafficable?
A: Yes, MatFlex can withstand light foot traffic, such as occasional maintenance access on a roof. However, it is not suitable for areas with frequent or heavy foot traffic, such as functional patios or walkways.
