WHAT IS PERMASTOP?
A cement-based mixture containing chemicals that combine with the water in cement and migrate into the concrete or cement plaster, effectively waterproofing the structure against hydrostatic pressure. It is suitable for slurry coatings and plugging holes, as well as for solving most types of waterproofing problems in below-ground and water-containing structures that contain OPC.

Benefits
- Resists extreme hydrostatic pressure from both the positive and negative side of the substrate
- Resistant to aggressive chemicals i.e. oil, salt water, alkalis, certain chemicals, weak acids and aggressive sulphate soils
- Becomes an integral part of the substrate - deep penetration
- Self-mending when punctured or torn and is not subject to deterioration. It is therefore permanent
- Does not require protection when backfilling
- Can be applied to moist surfaces
- Can seal static hairline cracks
- Increases the strength of concrete by up to 30% dependent on quality of original concrete
- Waterproof but not vapour proof
- No VOC’s

The System
Q: How is Permastop different from other waterproofing products or systems?
A: Permastop creates a crystalline structure deep within the pores and capillary tracts of any cement-based concrete plaster or screed. It is self-healing and seals hairline cracks of up to 0.4mm. It cannot be damaged and is a permanent solution which reactivates whenever water is present.
Q: Can I apply paint over Permastop?
A: Yes, most types of paint as well as plaster and cement-based coatings. Please refer to our datasheets for the respective preparation schedules.
Q: Can I apply Permastop over Derbigum or any other type of waterproofing system?
A: Permastop is compatible with the chemistry of cement based substrates only. Even when applying it to shuttered concrete you must shot blast the surface so as to remove all traces of shutter release agents.
Q: Is Permastop affected by the weather or other elements?
A: Once applied the crystalline growth in the substrate pores and capillary tracts performs well between temperatures between approximately -30°C and 130°C. It is unaffected by humidity, ultraviolet rays and oxidation.
Q: How long does it take for Permastop to work?
A: It really depends on a number of factors such as the mix design; type of cement used; the amount of moisture present; whether the Permastop has been applied to the positive or negative side of the structure to be waterproofed, and the thickness of the cement structure. If the cement structure is a good quality, been compacted properly and kept damp it can take place anywhere between 7 days and 21 days to achieve substantial crystalline growth within the pores and capillary tracts of the substrate.
Q: How deep does Permastop penetrate concrete?
A: The chemical reactions that initiate the crystalline growth takes place on the surface initially. From there it continues homogeneously throughout the concrete matrix ensuring the complete waterproofing of the matrix to which it is applied.
Q: How long does it last?
A: Unlike most other waterproofing systems Permastop is a permanent solution. Its unique crystalline matrix will not deteriorate under normal conditions.
Q: Can Permastop be used as a crack filler or mortar repair filler?
A: Yes, the crystalline growth acts as an effective wet to dry bonding agent and prevents moisture ingress. However, for expansion joints or movement cracks we recommend the use of an elastomeric type of sealant.
