The System
Q: Can Pool Coating be used on old fiberglass swimming pools?
A: No. It can only be used on old (older than 9 months) marble plastered swimming pools that have never been painted before.
Q: Can Pool Coating be used on a new concrete swimming pool instead of applying PoolCrete?
A: No. Pool Coating can only be applied to pool plaster that has cured for at least 9 months.
Q: How long will Pool Coating last?
A: 3 – 4 years depending on how well the pool is maintained. Some have even lasted as long as 7 - 8 years.
Q: Can I re-paint over existing Pool Coating?
A: No. Generally a swimming pool can only be painted once. The previous coats of paint have penetrated the pores of the plaster and traces of this remain tightly bonded within these pores closing them up and thus restricting the porosity needed for the ‘new’ paint to bond. We recommend that a swimming pool is only to be painted once. If further renovations are then required your option is to re-plaster the swimming pool using PoolCrete.
Q: Can I use the same chemicals that I used in my marble plaster based pool?
A: Yes you may. But once again avoid the use of copper sulphate-based chemicals.
Q: When can I introduce the automatic pool cleaner into the pool?
A: 21 days after the pool has been filled.
